Wasting food also wastes water

Wasting food means that the resources used to create food, such as water and energy are also wasted. CSIRO has jointly developed a water footprint calculation method to assess the environmental impact of water used in agriculture and food production so that businesses can identify where changes and savings can be made in the production system. An ISO standard for water footprinting is currently being developed with Food Standards Australia so watch this space!
