    December-Is

…summertime! Fabulous stone fruits are now both plentiful and delicious!

Apricots, nectarines, peaches and mouth-watering cherries are at their peak in December. Enjoy them on their own or in compotes, jams or desserts.

Asparagus, avocados (Hass), capsicum and cucumber are perfect for fresh summer salads.

Zucchinis, green beans and sweetcorn are still in season so look for recipes that use these too.

Make the most of seasonal produce in December with the FoodWise Seasonal Meal Plan.

By choosing recipes around seasonality, you get the benefit of the freshest and most nutritious produce that has also often travelled the shortest distance to your plate.

Seasonal produce is usually cheaper, so it’s also a great way to save money too. The following is a rough guide to what’s seasonal in December:

Local farmers markets are a great way to find out what’s in season, support local growers and feed your household with fresh, nutritious produce.

Find out the location of your closest farmers market at the Australian Farmers Markets Association website.

Fresh fruit and vegetable co-ops and delivery services are another easy way to eat seasonally. Find out more at Local Harvest.
